Sneak Preview: Natasha Salon "Beautiful Creatures" Beauty Shoot for Sunday Times!!

This is exactly the kind of creative beauty shoot I've been wanting to see and trust Natasha and Hina to place it in the highest form of fashion by creating beauty looks that are larger than life. Photographed by none other than Nadir Firoz Khan; I am so excited to share these images with you all!! Make sure you check out the full feature in Sunday Times tomorrow.

When I asked Natasha what her concept was behind this shoot, this is what she had to say: "This shoot was all about thinking out of the box and pushing our creative boundaries. I’ve always maintained that I would not want to be put in any one category of just one kind of a makeup artist. What keeps us versatile and interesting is that we can do a gorgeous glowy bride and then do work such as this. To evolve as an artist is important and we at Natasha Salon more than ever want to introduce work to this market that rivals the work being put out in the international market because there is such an abundance of fantastic talent in Pakistan! With my fascination with all things dark and mysterious since I’ve been a little girl other than this being a tribute to some of my favourite makeup geniuses such as Pat McGrath, Val Garland, Kevyn Aucoin, Alex Box, Gucci Westman and many many more, it was also a tribute to greats such as Alfred Hitchcock and Stanley Kubrick….. the essence of their movies, the haunting feel has always inspired me and hence other than the makeup that is something else we have tried to capture in these images. I used the models and canvases and painted on them as I would an art piece using color, powder, sequins, studs , metal…… it was a great exercise because it allowed me to work with elements that one does not work with daily."

"Hina on the other hand used wires, metals, color and textures to create some out of this world hair! The different looks are majorly influenced by characters from those haunting movies, great makeup and hair artists and fashion designers such as Alexander Mc Queen, Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano, Vivienne Westwood and Maison Martin Margiela! So it’s a concoction of these influences that has shaped this shoot!"

Wish there was also a video of this these hauntingly beautiful looks!!!

Aren't you in awe of the talent being showcased?!!!!!

Behind The Scenes: Humaima Malick Shoot!!

A big hello to all my gorgeous readers,

Have been seriously MIA because I was away for the summer, so all the posts that have been pending will be released one by one, sorry for the wait!!!!

I will start with a behind the scenes picture diary of Humaima Malick.. this shoot was done by Labels for Shamsha Hashwani who started off by stocking there. The make up is done by Natasha's - and Natasha has done something very new - my brief to her was that I wanted a stand out look, something doll like - love how Natasha created doll eyes but using liner 1 mm under the waterline and adding false lashes. Gave Humaima's eyes a large appearance. The theme for the shoot was pristine and post modern - basically a modern twist on traditional forms, that is what we have conveyed through Humaima's look (as well as the art direction), which was styled by me. Sleek straight hair, minimal make up with stand out eyes and the focal point being the clothes.

The photographer was Adeela Badshah and the jewellery was by none other than Sherezad.

You can really see Humaima's make up in this picture..

What do you girlies think?

My Gelish Experience!! (By Salina Cosmetics)

Hello beautiful readers!!!

Today I am going to tell you about the wonderful experience I had with 'Gelish', which has been brought to Pakistan by Salina Cosmetics. My 'Gelish' manicure was done at Mubashir Khan Salon. The process takes up to an hour - 'Gelish' is similar to nail polish, however, it lasts for about 2 weeks. Layers of 'Gelish' are used on the nail, similar to the application of nail polish, the only difference is that 'Gelish' is dried under a UV light and is much glossier and harder than nail polish.

The best part about 'Gelish' is that it does not chip!!! One of my biggest pet peeves is chipped nail polish as it looks far too unkempt. Also, this is the perfect thing to do before leaving for holiday. You can also apply other shades on top of 'Gelish', and they can easily be removed with nail polish remover and the 'Gelish' application will be perfect underneath. Cool, right?!

Swatches of all the fun shades available.

Below are some pictures I took whilst getting my nails done:
Nails are dried under the UV light in the 'Gelish' machine
The final look - so I opted for a neony pink shade called 'Passion', with very subtle nail art. Thought it would be fresh and feminine for the summer!

I strongly recommend everyone to get a 'Gelish' manicure, especially if you are someone on the go and cannot go to the salon frequently - I know that this is going to be my staple mani/pedi now.  Thank you Salina Cosmetics!! :)

If you are in Karachi check out the following salons: Bina Khan, Tariq Amin, Meher Naeeb, Beyond Bliss, Nina Lotia, Blush Salon, Nabilas, Ellemint, Sabs Salon, BluRain, StudioC by Cistres, Venus Salon & Spa, Dressing Table, Laiqa Hassan, Neelos, Shamain, Fehmida's, Ensemble Salon, Mubashir Khan Salon, Mona J salon, Angies Salon, Elle Rouge Salon, Alle'Nora Annies Signature Salon.

BEST DRESSED: Sonam Kapoor at the Cannes Film Festival 2013

I'm loving all of Sonam's looks at the Cannes Film Festival!! I have looked forward to seeing pictures of her on a daily because she has been put together so flawlessly and has rocked a variety of different looks...

Sonam Kappor looks divine in an Anamika Khanna couture sari paired with a jacket. The traditional beauty look is also very complimentary to the outfit with the deep red lips and vintage winged liner. I am not too sold on the nose ring by itself but somehow Sonam manages to pull it off well!!

Sonam rocking the monochrome trend in a Huemn sari!! I love modern takes on saris so this is definitely one of my favourite looks on her, with the natural make up and slicked back pony tail and statement earrings by Suhani Pittie - Sonam looks effortlessly chic.
Am a sucker for these princess-like ensembles - so fell in love with Sonam's Dolce & Gabbana gown - such a breathtakingly feminine look!!! Really emphasises her non existent waistline!!
Sonam is wearing a vintage looking Shehla Khan Lengha here, with an exquisite Chopard diamond necklace.
This is from the 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival, about 2 years back.. and I had to add it in here because I love the Jean Paul Gaultier couture gown and how she pulls off looking futuristic yet elegant. One of my favourite looks to date.

Which look is your favourite?

Best Dressed: Cannes Film Festival 2013

Hello my lovelies,

Here are my two favourite look from the Cannes Film Festival 2013 thus far:

Absolutely ADOREEE Audrey Tautou's Yiqing Yin couture gown!!!! The powder blue sheer bottom and structured top, paired with natural make up and subtle
diamond tops... such a gorgeous look!!!
Zhang Yuqi looks exquisite in a Ulyana Sergeenko Couture gown - just look at the stunning trail, and the colour!!! Though I am usually not a fan of such plunging necklines, it looks fairytale like with this dress!! Zhang Yuqi chose to pair diamond and ruby earrings, and a stunning ruby cocktail ring. Love the contrast of red with green. The red lips and bold brows are my favourite
beauty look for this season.

What do you think? What other looks did you like?
