The creative director of YSL, Hedi Slimane, is changing the name 'Yves Saint Laurent' to 'Saint Laurent Paris' - My reaction was; "BUT...No!!"
Personally, I feel like it will kill the brand essence, but Hedi Slimane wants to give YSL a new youthful image. I guess we will see what he means by that when the S/S 13 collection is showcased in Paris Fashion Week.

"Fashion fades but style is eternal," a popular quote by Yves Saint Laurent, but can it apply to YSL after its name change?

YSL or SLP?! SLP sounds a little boring and mainstream, but maybe I'm biased towards YSL because that's all I've known for so long. YSL is soon to become 'vintage' though, and will soon be referred to as 'old school YSL' - how strange indeed!

^^^ Seriously, in regards to that picture above WHY 'SL'???

What are your thoughts on this?

Trend: Midi Skirts

As we have seen from my previous post the midi skirt trend was a dominant feature in the resort collections. However, this trend dates back to the 1940's and was reinvented on runways last year. I love this look paired with a loose blouse and blazer, or even a body suit, gives such an elegant and feminine look.

Also, it's specially great for Pakistan because you don't show too much skin. I always have an issue with wearing (short) skirts and dresses here but showing 1/4th of the leg doesn't seem to bother me as much.

Check out the pictures below and pick out your favourite look:

Kourtney Kardashian rocking a midi skirt.
One of the Olsen twins wearing a beautiful midi (I can't tell the twins apart, sorry!)
You can always find Olivia Palermo sporting all the newest trends
and looking fabulous in everything. Love her!

My personal favourites are the brighter coloured midis and pleated ones. I also adore the sheer midi Olivia P is wearing. Drool.

Nailpolish: OPI Atomic Orange

The salad in the picture is the most delicious watermelon salad from Xanders. Yum.

My Picks From The Resort Collection 2013

Hello fashion lovers,

I've picked out my favourite pieces from the 2013 Resort Collections:

It's nice to see the prints aren't going anywhere, be they floral or leopard, similarly with the tapered pants, midi skirts and buttoned up collars, loving all the colours from pastel to tangy colours. Love how different fabrics and prints are paired together. Drooool.

Matthew Williamson:

"I'm keeping the silhouette simple - classic, tailored, angular - so you can pile on the opposite" - Matthew Williamson regarding his collection.

What's there ever NOT to love about MW?! His collections never fail to impress. Love the colours, fabrics, floral and abstract prints. The collection is so beautifully feminine. Also adore the floral block heels.

Barbara Bui:

Like the incorporation of coloured leather and pinks and greens. I also like the flip over contrast collars.

Stella McCartney

Simply stunning. Oversized blazers, linens, whites, leopard and floral prints (and the combination of the two in one outfit), sky blues, hot pinks, yellows, net, lace, ahhh.

Cedric Charlier:

pleats, straight silhouettes, pink, pythons, block colours & midi skirts. Very fierce.

Elizabeth and James:

Mary Kate and Ashley are super. I'd describe this collection as a jeweled tone feminine spin on menswear. Love the smoking slippers, silk fabrics, midi skirts, yellows and pinks.

Other collections I particularly liked included Nanette Lepore, (I'd wear everything from this collection it was right up my alley), Lela Rose, Herve Leger, Naeem Khan (so fresh, totally elaborate and different from all the other collections) and Lanvin. Check out www.style.com for more images.

Do share your favs with me.

Ensemble Du Jour.. Dressing for work in Pak

Hi all,

So a HUGE challenge I face is how to dress for work here adhering to the Pakistani culture and environment. I want to wear high waisted pants, skirts, blazers, platform heels but it's just too inappropriate for where I work, not to mention insanely hot, but so is Dubai and I would be able to wear everything there. Mostly people here wear kameezes (which I do sometimes too) with the exception of a few. I have to dress decently, slightly toned down and not too funky, even though I was dying to wear crazy tights today.

Anyhow, so today my outfit comprised of a Zara shirt, Supre leggings, Balenciaga brief bag, Aldo moccasins/loafers (Aah these shoes I adore) and Forever New faux pearl strings:

So stay tuned to see how I get past the limitation of dressing for work here.

Louboutin loses red sole case to Zara

Zara will continue to sell their red soled shoes, which I personally think is totally unfair. Red soles are a Christian Louboutin signature!!

Anyway, we all know Zara isn't the only brand to use the red soles, even Peep Toe Australia did at one point, alongside so many other high street/lower end brands.

I feel for you Master Louboutin!!

On another note, check out these Holy Grail Loubies on Victoria Beckham!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DIE:

Le Femme Du Nuit Presents: How To Wear A Collar

Fashion lovers,

Here is my Friday night outfit. I wore a Top Shop collar on a plain black sleeveless top:

Tumtums the cutie pie felt the need to play with my collar
S, Z & I.

There are many ways to wear collars, can be on a variety of different tops, if the collar suits the top, however the easiest way to wear one is over a plain sleeveless top. It can also enhance the outfit if you wear plain bright coloured skinnies, a wife beater and a collar. I love how it looks like it's a part of the top.

I'm wearing: Sheike pants, Black sleeveless top from some random Singaporean store, Top Shop collar and bracelets, Christian Louboutin 70mm Patent Simples (these shoes are way lower than most of my heels but they are GREAT for work and are so comfortable, unlike most Loubs), Forever New envelope clutch, I can't remember where the belt is from I think it came with a dress..

Z is wearing Warehouse pants, Top Shop top, Dorothy Perkins necklace, Faith flats which you can't really see in this pic.

S is wearing, light lime coloured jeans from a market in Bangkok, gray top from Top Shop and a classic Chanel flap.
