Lust List: Luscious Cosmetics Designer Nail Polish Collaboration!

Wow!! If you have been following my blog, you know that I love my nail-polishes and my nails are almost always painted! Luscious is one of my favourite local cosmetic brands and they have come up with a ground-breaking collaboration with 14 of the hottest, most talented, local designers; each designer has their own signature shade for S/S 13! This is to celebrate Luscious' 5th anniversary. The campaign is called "Luscious Loves Fashion". What a superb idea. OPI does a lot of collaborations but to see a local twist on this phenomenon is truly amazing.

I have tried Luscious nail polishes before and they are great. Cannot wait to get my hands on some (or all) of these fabulous shades!!

What shade is your favourite?

Event: Garnier BB Brunch

On the 20th of February 2013, Garnier hosted a brunch at Cafe Flo to introduce their new BB cream.

Now, you may ask what a BB cream is; well, it all started in Korea - basically, it is a 'blemish balm' (hence the 'BB') and is an all in one facial cream to replace the use of sunblock, foundation, concealer, moisturiser and so on. It is like a tinted moisturiser - and has to be applied in a similar manner as well. Garnier's angle on the BB cream, however, is that it is a "30 second miracle skin perfecter" - so for women that want a flawless look and are on the go, you just have to apply this cream, and instantly it will give you a smooth, flawless finish! Tempting, right?

Unfortunately, I was unable to make it to the brunch, but the brunch was hosted by Musharaf Hai, and the attendees included Juggun Kazim, who is the brands spokesperson, Faisal Khilji; one of Karachi's leading dermatologists, Nighat Misbah and other well known personalities/journalists/bloggers.

The BB cream will hit stores locally by the end of March 2013. Till then, here are some pictures from the event:

Meher Tareen, Musharaf Hai and Samina Khan.

Oscars 2013: Best Dressed

Here are the top 5 women that really stood out for me (in no particular order) - talk about looking chic from head to toe!!

Naomi Watts is really rocking the metallic trend in this pewter coloured Armani Prive gown. Perfection.
Amanda Seyfried really took my breath away in a custom made Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton... the messy up do seems to be the 'IT' look when it comes to hair.
Olivia Munn in a beautiful Marchesa gown, love the trail and her deep red lips!! Sigh!! Also like the fact that shes accessorised with gold earrings - this is rare sight!
Salma Hayek NEVER fails to impress. Love her in her velvet McQueen gown and gold McQueen clutch. Epitome of perfection.
Zoe Saldana in a stunning Alexis Mabille gown.

What do you think? Who looked best in your opinion?

Featured Designer: Jalebi

I love fashion forward thinking and that is why I am in awe of 'Jalebi' - there are three main people behind the brand, Sabeen, Kashif and Maheen. Kashif focuses on management and accounts and Sabeen and Maheen are the creative heads. Maheen focuses on their accessories range.

Now, the thing is, 'Jalebi' uses recycled fabrics to make their signature pieces. They are an ethical brand - with many women under their umbrella who make all the fun crochet embellishments and tassles that are dominant features on the pieces.

Their new collection is called 'Op-Art meets Malang' and you can see the fun pieces in the pictures below. Sabeen stated that, "This collection is an amalgamation of the seasons hottest trends done in a very 'Jalebi' way. The inspiration for this collection actually came from a malang walking across the street, in the most fabulous outfit ever, hence it trickled the entire collection in my head. The collection has a lot of black and white and geometric motifs, colour blocking, our signature crochets, bottle-cap tassles and printed palazzo's."

'Jalebi' will soon be launching really fun recycled necklace stoles, with pretty embroidery and crochet flowers on them, you can see them in one of the pictures below - the concept behind this piece is great, can be worn with tee's, as well as plain mens shirt style kameezes.

Other than that, future plans include opening up a store - Sabeen said she has already chalked out the interior - how exciting! There is also a collaborative project underway of handmade recycled bags, as well as fun furniture and interior decor items. The future plans sound promising and I cannot wait to see what Jalebi has in store for us!!

Very impressed with our local talent and their innovative ideas. There is so much potential for fashion with a conscience in our country, and a lot of designers leverage on this by hiring and training local women - however, making use of recycled fabric is something still VERY new in Pakistan and a super thing to do - the benefits of recycling fabrics are great - less waste ending up in landfills, less resources extracted to create new fabrics and most importantly proving that there is demand for making a positively green change going forward and also to show that there IS demand for sustainable products!! This process must be encouraged!!

Adore the printed palazzo's.
The lovely recycled printed stole necklaces!! ^^

I must also mention that these pieces are very well priced. They are available on the Labels Estore. Click here to purchase.

Do share if you have bought fun Jalebi pieces in the past!!
