After 15 whole years Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquiere and Balenciaga have parted ways. Balenciaga is one of my favourite fashion houses and I'm really curious to know who they will now bring in place of Nicolas and those will be some really tough boots to fill.
Nicolas Ghesquiere was no doubt a man of revolutionary ideas. He stuck to Balenciaga's fashion philosophy which was "real women in the real world". His signature style was combining street style with historic periods - very avant-garde. and what silhouettes and forms he would create!!! This is what I have adored about Balenciaga - the signature exuberant baroque style structures with a modern twist.
I must say though, I am excited as I have read repeatedly that Nicolas Ghesquiere has always wanted to start his own independent label. Here's to wishing him all the best in his future endeavors and some pictures below celebrating his time at Balenciaga.
